LED's definitely consume far less current than standard filament or HID headlight systems. For now the tradeoff when it comes to LED's is the purchase price. For a complete headlight system, plan on a minimum of $400.00. The wide gap in headlight aim when using e-Code headlights is likely due to the ECE regulations that limit the amount of permissible glare from automotive headlights. The factory aim of US spec low beams would be judged as unacceptably high in the European Union. Since most drivers spend the majority of their time on low beam, it makes the most sense to aim the low beam where it is most beneficial. A set of auxiliary driving lights can be added to come on automatically and fill in the gap when switching over to high beam. Here are a couple links to info about Vanagon headlights from my website with more info on basic upgrades as well as a few thoughts on LED/HID options: https://sites.google.com/site/vanagonheadlightrelays/helpful-information/len s-bulb-upgrades https://sites.google.com/site/vanagonheadlightrelays/helpful-information/led -hid-lighting On your bike, you could use a delay relay to avoid the headlight turning on while cranking.
