The wire is under the headliner at the dome light on the drivers side. It more than likely is a red wire (hot) going rearward towards the kitchen light.

Have you taken the kitchen light down and inspected what the wires are? You could probably cap off the hot wire at the light and run your new wire from there instead of going on a wire chase.
