Grease works too, but the drift has to be a tight fit. Grease or water is forced under the edge of the bushing even if it is fully bottomed out. I've done it once. I could swear I remember Boston Bob telling me to use a wad of wet paper towel (thick spitball consistency) and a close-fitting drift (he might even have said a close-fitting wooden dowel). Give it a good whack on the end with your three pound hammer and the bushing jumps right out. I've never done it, though. It would depend on the bushing not being seated to the full depth of the hole, unless it's in there very lightly. Yours, David |
