A couple of notes,

Andreas (noted for his springs) has a pretty extensive test of cv boots here:

secondly, the German manual at least, explicitly shows both the outer and inner cv boots on the front axles to have the inner ends of the boot clamped to the axle shaft. But the manual does not show clamps on the inner part of boots on the rear axles.
