I'm glad you're happy with yours. Where I am there could be as many as 150 T3 Vanagons running around, Rogue Valley of southern Oregon. Maybe 6 of those are air-cooled ones, ok, 10 at the most.

Had an interesting time with an air-cooled one : Some people brought me one because no one in the area could get it to run on the left cylinders. Took a wile to find it ...like how can you have good fuel pressure on the right injectors but not on the left ones ? Was thinking about that at night ...finally realized a clog in the fuel line at the cold start injector could cause that .. sure enough that's what it was. And that might be why, rather than one loop with 5 injcctors on it, like Type IV air-engines have ( if fuel injected ) , waterboxers have a 'twin split' fuel hose and injector layout ...two sides in parallel , , and nicely, no cold start injector either.

I normally never work on air-cooled ones any more. BTDT too much. scott turbovans

Bosch injectors use a pintel nozzle. even if your local doesn't list them as available you can order from the main page and use the `free ship to home' feature. they have a promo code to save 20 % to boot. now, I know what you Bosch purists are thinking and I'm with you. however, for under $30 each they'll be adequate to keep the Van running til I get the others rehabbed by WitchHunter. oh, wait. a while back Miguel posted a link to a you tube vid on how to back flush them at home. so, I'm spending money to help the economy while saving money to help my wallet. woo hoo!! it's your Vanagon/Westy. it's your money. it's your decision. I'm just saying ... h t h mike
