Odd that a Sprinter could be considered 'too big'. I drove one recently, a 2005 model 140" wheelbase extended-height roof. Surprisingly smooth, powerful, good handling, and NOT 'trucklike' at all. For comparison, I measured the cargo area and found it to be only 2" wider and 18" longer than a Vanagon. That means a short (118" wb) Sprinter is likely to be almost the same size as the Vanagon. The ceiling height was 6' 1", enough for many of us to stand tall. I was impressed enough that someday I may build a Sprinter camper, perhaps 4x4.
