AC compressors almost always fail for some reason beyond their own. The most difficult part is finding the why! If not you will get to do it again. A number of vendors have new ones at reasonable prices. That is my choice. You will want to go with the R-134A. Have the system thoroughly cleaned and flushed, replace the dryer. If not already done it is time for new hoses. Replace the expansion valve. You get the idea. After repairs the system should be tested by charging with nitrogen. Then properly evacuated, charged with the proper volume of oil and refrigerant. R-134a cannot reliably be charged by pressures. You have to measure the amount going in.

Hello List,

Opinions pleased on experiences with refurbed AC compressors verses experiences with new ac compressors.

Glad I found mine to be faulty before the long trip west.
