I'm embarrassed to say I carry nearly the same parts.  The spare alternator not listed but in the van saved my butt a thousand miles from home on one trip.  My only "mechanical" so far. I also like to think I'm prepared to help a less-prepared fellow Vanagon owner should the need arise.

funny enough I never use any of those spares on any trip. 2 years ago on a trip from So. Cal to Oregon, the water pump gave up and the alternator dies 2 day later...
