Make no mistake about my opinions about him .. it's a brilliant book. incredibly well illustrated. There's an exploded view of an engine .. each single part is shown, down to each valve spring...down to each valve spring and keeper even.

and what is so super great about those books is .. if you never even saw a car in your life, you could work on an Old Bug ... takes you right into the details in the distributor and points and everything. Written for the total newb/layman. Extremely well done. All back yard methods too, even balancing connecting rods.

A classic book and strange that not a whole lot more has been done in that genre. I also wonder if people read and study much any more. Like grab some shop manual and read every word in it, or some engine rebuilding manual ....or current car magazines, or an OBD-II Haynes book ..which is quite good actually, not that any stock vanagon engine and systems people could use that, but subaru vanagon people sure can. . I read a lot, all kinds of stuff, like 30 hours a week sometimes. I find people these days that almost never read. What is up with that ?? ( ...family and job demands etc. - not unaware of those factors ) Really ..how much to members on here read ? It almost don't doesn't matter what it is .. if you read about knitting, it makes you smarter. Just the act of reading itself makes the brain smarter. Where's my brain booster supplements anyway right now ? lol. sdf
