My first Vanagon was a straight across trade for a cheap POS used car. My second one was an '87 Westy w/ low miles for $600! I sold the old van for $600, so it actually ended up costing me ZERO!

As you say, I often see folks paying BIG bux for these vans, but I always seem to be able to locate one. Apparently I am particularly skilled at locating VW's for anywhere from cheap to free. I always have people asking me to look for them......
