IMHO, it was the first real "<SPAN class=misspelled>civilized</SPAN>" van VW made! I was just talking about this with my 20 <SPAN class=misspelled>yr</SPAN> old daughter the other day. I know so many guys (myself included) who started out in their teens or early 20<SPAN class=misspelled>'s</SPAN> driving <SPAN class=misspelled>Splitties</SPAN>, then graduated to Bay window buses, then as we aged, the comforts of a <SPAN class=misspelled>Vanagon</SPAN> (better ride, REAL heat, a/<SPAN class=misspelled>c</SPAN>, etc) became more important to us. I know one guy who was a die hard air cooled fan who know drives a <SPAN class=misspelled>Vanagon</SPAN>. I remember him telling me about the first time he drove one, and how comfortable they were compared to earlier buses. And if I was going to in a head on collision, I'd much rather be in a <SPAN class=misspelled>Vanagon</SPAN> than <SPAN class=misspelled>Splittie</SPAN> or a Bay. I also thought the <SPAN class=misspelled>powerplant</SPAN> was poorly designed and <SPAN class=misspelled>underpowered</SPAN>. There is much one can do to a dual port, air cooled, VW boxer to increase output and remain supremely reliable or at least easily <SPAN class=misspelled>fixable</SPAN>. But, I must admit, there are a few real creature comforts and safety upgrades that come with a <SPAN class=misspelled>Vanagon</SPAN> (how did I ever live without a <SPAN class=misspelled>fridge</SPAN> and running water?!?!) and I have learned to love 'em. After all, they are a bus at heart and in heritage and one can work on them, a feature that always impressed me with the <SPAN class=misspelled>Volkswagen</SPAN> product.</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV> <SPAN class=misspelled>Dave</SPAN> B.</DIV><DIV> </DIV><DIV style="BORDER-TOP: #bcbcbc 1px solid; MARGIN: 5px 0px"></DIV><SPAN style="FONT-SIZE: 12px; FONT-FAMILY: arial; COLOR: #000000">On 04/12/13, <SPAN>Don <SPAN class=misspelled>Hanson</SPAN></SPAN> wrote:</SPAN> <DIV> </DIV><DIV style="FONT-SIZE: 12px; FONT-FAMILY: arial; COLOR: #000000"><SPAN class=misspelled>Ya</SPAN>, but I bet if you drove a real VW bus you wouldn't go <SPAN class=misspelled>callin</SPAN> it a<BR><SPAN class=misspelled>Vanagon</SPAN>, <SPAN class=misspelled>woodja</SPAN>?<BR><BR><BR>On <SPAN class=misspelled>Thu</SPAN>, <SPAN class=misspelled>Apr</SPAN> 11, 2013 at 1:42 PM, <SPAN class=misspelled>David</SPAN> <SPAN class=misspelled>Bjorkman</SPAN> <A class=parsedEmailparsedEmail href="mailto:ddbjorkman@verizon.net" target=_blank><SPAN class=misspelled>ddbjorkman</SPAN>@<SPAN class=misspelled>verizon</SPAN>.net</A>>wrote:<BR><BR>> Hey, wait a minute.
