Yes I know of one case that this fixed itself.  My 87 with now 150K
screeched like a banshee (on high speed only) years ago.  I gave up high
for awhile and have had no problem even on high for years.  Use the fan
in the summer, I don't think it likes being ignored and idle.

Otherwise, there's great stuff in the archives on pulling and oiling the
motor, and the Mullendore Port, also in the archives.
