Wow, have to respectfully disagree with your comments about the Vanagon! IMHO, it was the first real "civilized" van VW made! I was just talking about this with my 20 yr old daughter the other day. I know so many guys (myself included) who started out in their teens or early 20's driving Splitties, then graduated to Bay window buses, then as we aged, the comforts of a Vanagon (better ride, REAL heat, a/c, etc) became more important to us. I know one guy who was a die hard air cooled fan who know drives a Vanagon. I remember him telling me about the first time he drove one, and how comfortable they were compared to earlier buses. And if I was going to in a head on collision, I'd much rather be in a Vanagon than Splittie or a Bay.      Just my .02           Jeff     Jeff Stewart ----- Original Message ----- >   >  I must admit, I never really liked the name " Vanagon ", nor did I > think it looked better than my "real" VW busses.  I also thought the > powerplant was poorly designed and underpowered .  There is much one > can do to a dual port, air cooled, VW boxer to increase output and > remain supremely reliable or at least easily fixable .  But, I must > admit, there are a few real creature comforts and safety upgrades that > come with a Vanagon (how did I ever live without a fridge and running > water?!?!) and I have learned to love 'em.  After all, they are a bus > at heart and in heritage and one can work on them, a feature that > always impressed me with the Volkswagen product. >   >   Dave B. >   > On 04/12/13, Don Hanson wrote: >   > Ya , but I bet if you drove a real VW bus you wouldn't go callin it a > Vanagon , woodja ? > On Thu , Apr 11, 2013 at 1:42 PM, David Bjorkman ddbjorkman @ verizon > .net >wrote: > > Hey, wait a minute.
