Mine (84 snap on end) was noisy. Tried all kinds of lubes, swapped the cable out, changed the speedo head even.... I finally shut it up with a zip tie! I put one on the cable just behind the fitting where it attaches to the head, holding the cable up slightly...I forget what I used to attach it to, but now I have had no noise from the cable for well over a year...even on sub freezing days...
