Greetings all, This is on a 1987 Syncro Westfalia, with slightly under 135KMi on it. Currently I am running RedLine MT90 in the transaxle, and generally satisfied with the overall behavior of the transaxle. I just returned from a quick trip to the Needles district of Canyonlands (+/- 900mi) which was absolutely uneventful (I did meet a couple of other Vanagon folks there!!) The transaxle does not have any obvious problems, noises or vibrations. I have a persistent leak where the stub for the driveshaft comes out of the front of the transaxle. We're on the second seal replacement. The first replacement was an aftermarket seal, then we went to the appropriate OEM seal provided by German Transaxle. This is not a significant leak, leaving about a 2" spot on the driveway after a long drive. It's bugging me as I don't want to inadvertently run the transaxle out of oil during a long trip and I don't like spots on the driveway. I'm wondering if anyone on the list has encountered a similar problem, and has any suggestions for a permanent fix. I'm becoming concerned that the leak is an indication of a problem with the output shaft... I have verified that the transaxle vent hose is not obstructed. -- *Best Regards, Jon B Kanas *Email: kanas@qadas.com <mailto:kanas@qadas.com> Website: http://www.2experts.org <http://http://www.2experts.org/> *Longmont, Colorado; Cultural Center of the Universe* *
