We felt very safe in Mexico. We saw more presence of military and police armed with rifles, but the people were friendly and the drivers were at least as good as in the US. I'd heard a statistic that there was more gun violence in the state of Arizona last year than in all of Mexico. I hope it's true. I do think the Mexican drug war makes good press and is a little over-reported stateside.
