If I recall, there is something about "closest repair facility" in the fine
print of the AAA agreement, but several times I have needed them to look
the other way and they have done so. I guess the distinction is if you are
talking to the person that answers the phone at AAA, you'll get the book
thrown at you. When you are there in the cab with the driver, talking about
how he loves VW vans and such that you get a different, expanded set of
rules.
