I'll second the Monroe recommendation. I put a set on my '85 last year, and they are great. Monroe Gas Magnums. Fronts were even made in the USA, rears in Europe. Cheap source: www.rockauto.com. $37/front, $26/rear, and a $30 rebate from Monroe: http://www.monroe.com/assets/downloads/promotions/Monroe_Change_Pays_Rebate_ US_WEB.pdf Guess I should have waited . . . The ride has become brutal. Currently have KYB which I will never buy again. I checked eBay and saw Bilstein, Meyle, Boge, Gabriel, Monroe. Did not see any Konis. Some of these brands there appear to multiple types. I'm looking for a soft ride not good handling. The Bilsteins are outside my price range. I'd prefer to spend $50 or under per shock. I'll probably fit the rears myself and have someone do the fronts. What are recommendations? -David (1987 Vanagon Wolfsburg) |
