@ Jim: thanks for confirming the engine movement. Hey Scott. My previously posted link may not have worked, but here's a link to my images showing how I modified the transmission mount: https://picasaweb.google.com/musomuso/WBXTransmissionInto81VanagonWasAirCooled# I installed a WBX transmission so chose to modify the mount to keep the engine in the same position as it was with the air cooled transmission. This mod worked fine until I removed-reinstalled the engine carrier. I'll check for noise at the shift lever in cab. Neil.
