I should have jumped in on this thread a couple of days ago but let me add this late. Although AAA won't pull you out of a back road/dirt road situation your insurance company might, depending on the circumstances. When I totaled my '85 Westy (rolled down the side of a big fill over a culvert) on a FS road AAA wouldn't pay for the retrieval. But my insurance company did. And then picked it up from the tow yard and had it towed again to a collision repair shop for estimates. And in the negotiations over the payout (it was really totaled) the cost of the towing was never mentioned. So, if stuck on a dirt road somewhere and the rig is not drivable (needs repairs) after being extracted check with your insurance company, they may cover it. BTW, tow truck operators are usually up speed on this kind of thing, the one that came in, hauled the '85 up the hill, got it back on it's wheels and towed it out, never asked me for a dime, said they would settle with the insurance company. |
