The 8.8 refers to "property Class". The 8.8 is close to an American grade 5. The KHS refers to the manufacturer. P.C. 10.9 is the first step in high strength fasteners. In addition to the grade there are also choices for the finish. As important if not more is the quality of any washers used. A good bolt and nut does not matter if the washer deforms under load. Washers also come in grades. Find a supplier that offers fastener systems (matched bolts, nuts, washers). Lawson Metri-torqu is one of my favorites although the price of their washers is scary. Their plating is fantastic, the bolt heads are taller than normal, and the line is DIN spec so everything stays the same wrench size as OEM.

Hi all.

I may need to use a longer than OEM cross bolt where the transmission front mount bracket bolts to the bracket on the frame.

The bolt I removed has 8.8 grade mark and "K H S"

Longer bolt I'd like to use has what *looks like* 8.6 or 8G and "F II S" or "F H S"

IF the second bolt is a grade 8 bolt, is it ok to use in place of the OEM bolt?

Thanks,

Neil.
