Subject: Drivetrain Movement Question. Video.
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hi all.

This for a Jetta engine powered Vanagon.

When driving in 1st or 2nd gear, especially up hill (more load), it sounds like the engine/transmission is contacting the body/frame. Noise doesn't happen otherwise. I made a video to see if the new exhaust was contacting the rear apron. youtube video of van parked in driveway, e-brake on, foot on brake, in 1st gear letting clutch out:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IHdLOaw3hww&feature=youtu.be Video also briefly shows van in reverse.

I now suspect that the modified transmission brackets are contacting each other when engine is under load. Regardless....

Is the drivetrain movement shown in the video (rear of engine moves down, engine torques to driver side) the same as what would happen if I was actually driving the van?

Thanks,

Neil.
