Mark,

i did not know the upper bunk was an option, I had assumed all mosaik kits came with the fibreglass bunk section.

It is funny how things have gone with my conversion. I still have not got a good folding bunk arrangement, I did set up a temp solution last summer, but the need for one is diminishing. My son is growing up fast and we won't be making the same family trips we once did. Yup, mixed feelings about the lad getting his own life :)

Last summer it was mostly just me and my wife on trips and the space where the top bunk would be was used to store clothes and sleeping bags etc. Even if I never get around to making a workable upper bunk the pop top is still infinitely better for me than a camperized tin top. I find it extremely cramped inside if I can't stand up, no fun if your van-bound due to bad weather.

There is a wrinkle when doing the hole in roof method and that is the top bunk is now on top of the curved tintop roof. This reduces the bed to pop top ceiling distance and the fold up part of upper bunk will not clear. So you have to come up with another solution - the mosaik kit (westy built kit) solves this with a hinged, two part folding out part of bed.
