I apologize in advance for this not containing much Vanagon content, only that the Subaru 2.5 lives in my Vanagon. This problem actually predates my ownership, as I saw a request to fix it in a stack of receipts that I got from the PO (always wanted to use PO in a sentence). Anyway the symptom is that when cruising at freeway speeds, occasionally the engine just shuts down. If you close the throttle and open it again, it immediately comes back to life. It's all very smooth. No roughness. If you don't close the throttle, the engine stays off. I suspect the engine computer because it seems like the TPS (throttle position sensor) has to go to 0 to make it recover. As far as it being the VSS. I'm guessing that is the "vehicle speed sensor". I don't think it is related because mine only works about half the time anyway (as reported by the scangauge) and I have seen this problem both when it was working and when it wasn't. ---------------------------------------- > From: OlRivrRat@comcast.net > > Hope you get the bugs worked out on your EJ25.
