Ditto on the 'yes' .. it's the red/yellow wire that is the temp gauge sensor wire. Connect that to the screw-in single contact temp sensor. The other wire is ground .. you can ground it or just leave it there. I think it just goes to a ground anyway , so grounding it won't hurt or help actually.

Save the 2WD 2.1 waterboxer connector plug and a few inches of wiring ... if someone needs one, there's no easy way to get one.
