I've started an excel spread sheet list of 'failure modes and things to check on water-cooled vanagons' ... will cover gas and diesel, divided into Electrical , brakes/wheels/tires ...General Service ....Operator Awareness and so on.

in 15 minutes I have 50 things listed ...either things I see commonlynot working , or not working right, or needing inspection and service . there will be many entries eventually.

for example...here are 14 quick entries for Electrical ......only spent a few minutes on it. and just the tip of the iceberg really. It's like that throughout the entire vehicle .. theya are 25 + old after all, and just VW's at that ... there..just thought of another one ...ignition switchtired/wonky.
