Doesn't that come down to whether one wants to deal with the junking process?  That would be the main point with me.  If I had storage and didn't mind all the bother, then could easily get rid of the hulk, I'd choose the disassemble and sell the parts route.  If I wanted the thing gone with little bother, and had or could stir up a buyer, I'd sell it.  For me, the fact that it is a Vanagon is irrelevant.  It is an object taking up space that I might need for other purposes.  mcneely
