Was Clunking on freeway , dieing at stop signs and the sound of a clacking wheel slowly stopping. That was the story for 2 months, no mechanic could figure it out. German Transaxle in Bend, rebuilt it and added a limited slip differential. He said the internal clutch was trashed which caused dieing. Because it had never been serviced, many adjustments were out of whack. Like the accelerator, when its not adjusted right the it starts shifting way late. I had no clue that transmissions needed adjustment!! So for anyone who has diagnosis problems with phantom noises, get your transmission serviced before its too late.
