Subject: Blinkers work, no emergency flashers
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Hi,

85 westy automatic that has been converted to manual.

Trying to diagnose this thing right now. Blinkers work fine on both sides. Turning on the emergency flasher switch does nothing.

I have put in a second battery kit and a headlight relay kit, so it's likely that I've done something there that messed it up.

I put a voltmeter on the red wires leading into the back of the flasher switch, nothing. That doesn't seem like it could be right.

Looking at the fuses and wires and stuff, I see a few anomalies. One fuse has some corrosion at both contacts. I tried sandpapering those off and replacing it, but I'm in doubt about it. I don't think that fuse is on the critical path for this, but I would be remiss not to mention it.

There is also a place way on the right hand side of the fuse assembly where there are two fuses separately under a square clear plastic cover. On the back side of that, one of the connector spades has nothing connected to it. I don't remember if it was always like that or what.

Probably best if I put up some pictures and definitively identify more of this, but I thought this might be enough information for people to suggest a few places to look.

Hopefully I'll get some pictures up shortly. Until then, if someone has ideas, I'm all ears.

My Bentley is currently misplaced, but a kind list member has scanned and sent me the relevant pages. I'm on my way out to start poking around now.

mike
