Fascinating -- you can see how his plate is misaligned in the view from above.

If the vent is correct and properly sealed it doesn't need any help. I ran my fridge continuously eight months of the year for more than ten years as a daily driver and I cannot recall it ever going out except when I'd had it out and not gotten the vent properly sealed afterward. I never had the plate misaligned, but it took a little experience to learn how important it was that the vent lie flat and flush against the van body *before* the mounting screws went in. It was pleasing to discover that a broomstick was just the right size to use as a lever for lining it up.
