Mmm, maybe. I know I took some pics of manifold alignment to body. That aspect has been discussed before and is why I took some pics etc.

That totally makes sense regarding that flat plate position. It's a little tricky to keep that plate seated while installing the shroud bit. Especially if one hasn't done the job before.

I think part of the trick is to ensure that the plate is seated on the lip of the pipe that sticks out. You can sort of see that lip here:

Even so, I always found that I had to mess around with the plate after seating the shroud in and against the rubber gasket.
