B4 replacing fuel pump I'd inspect carefully what is in the fuel filter. In all cases I suggest inspecting, testing, and some good diagnosis before getting parts, unless you just want a spare new fuel pump anyway, for example.

Here I'll say it, and I don't mean to be mean .. people who don't know how to test and check things often get parts first, before they have any idea if it's a component, a poor connection, something dirty etc. Fully 3/4ths of what I fix on vanagons involves cleaning, adjusting, tweaking, etc. Of course tired parts need to be replaced, but so often it's not a component. I'll tryto stay in lurk mode. Just tryin' to help ya.
