what works nicely for me. Clean exhaust pipes to fairly clean metal, like with a wire brush on a mikita disc grinder . Paint pipes,.muffler, tail pipe , cat etc with 'Flame Proof' brand primer gray. Get a good coat of that on. Then paint with Flame Proof final coat , I like the silver gray. They'll stay that way for a while, and are not hard to touch up in placeon the engine. I just hold a piece of cardboard as a back up or 'edge masking thing' in one hand while I spray with the other hand. . Vastly better than doing nothing, and not expensive.
