Hi Jim, When I did my 1.8 Jetta inline - for diesel 82 I used control line model airplane cable. Its cheap and readily available. Its is twisted stainless with ends, or you can get it without ends. I used the endless type, and cut a 1/2 in of 1/8 copper tubing sleeve, and looped the loose end through, I soldered and crimped the sleeve. (no I don't wear a belt and suspenders, just making sure) This stuff is very strong and being stainless will not rust.
