They definitely should NOT be bypassed by tying together. That flow capacity is lost to the front heater and also the radiator when really needed. Just cap them off or if the heater will not be reinstalled remove the tees and replace with straight connectors.

My Bluestar project is advancing and I am at the point I want to add the coolant. This van has the rear heater removed and the two hoses are connected in an open bypass.

I am wondering if this is a good idea. I am not planning on reinstalling the rear heater any time soon. I would have thought that it would be better if the two rear heater hoses were plugged off rather than connected as the free flowing by-pass could short change hot coolant going to the front heater.

If I am to make a change, now would be the time to do it.

Any opinions? Experiences?
