Gene Berg did more for the aircooled engines than anyone would have thought possible in an attempt to get Porsche power out of them: http://www.geneberg.com/meetourteam.php I've bought many of his parts over the years, and since it isn't Friday here is the Vanagon content: I added his quick shift kit (http://www.geneberg.com/cat.php?cPath=17_486_2978) and shift lever extender to my '84 Westy. Very nice inexpensive options I highly recommend.

Stuart Automatic '85 Westy, 3 million shifts is enough.
