Yes there is and this is gonna be complicated to explain. First you must remove the black cap on the pivot bolt on the outside. It is a metal cap that is press fitted on the head of the bolt/screw so you need to find a small pick, screwdriver or knife that will get under the lip of it and pop it off. After you get that cap off you will see the head of the bolt that can only be turned one way because the crazy Germans made sure it was not removable for theft reasons I presume. So now you need to go to the other side and rotate the lever while putting pressure on the head of that bolt and unscrew it. Why, unscrew it you may ask, well because you want to clean up the corrosion on the threads so that when you go to tighten it, it will be easier. Put some anti-sieze on the threads then put the assembly back together and tighten up the screw so that the lever arrives in the correct position for latching and un-latching the vent window. Also, note that the lever can be removed if needed by driving out the drift pin which is very, very small so look closely and you will see it. You will need to find a drift pin remover that is of the correct diameter to remove that pin, I have had good success with a hardened nail.
