I went from 2 Vanagons with 14" to my present one with 16". Not statistically correct because my 3 examples never had more than one size wheel (for me), and, I may not have as sensitive a posterior as others of us, but I felt the only improvement was in crosswinds. The trip down I-55 in IL, with a due west wind (20 to 25 mph, and gusty, wind), is quite an experience, and it's less so w/ 16's by 27.5%. Handling at the limit? I went past that in an RX7 Convertible enough times to know to never approach it in a Vanagon, for God's sake, The ride , with the previous proviso about butts, was 5.1% better w/ 16's; probably near the 95% confidence interval. I do like the appearance -- Mercedes (and real classy, I believe) style. |
