The one I drove in, you could have put a cinderblock on the Go Pedal and been just fine, probably never got over 50mph. My 57yr old S.O. passed us as we drove it up a 7% grade, floored.....she was on her bicycle! She's a strong rider, but passing a motor vehicle, going uphill?.. I realize, from my reading of course, that some of the other diesel VW motors do have to be driven with care because they can be blown up, but the normally aspirated 1.6 diesels I have been around...rabbits and caddys and vanagons...those seem like you just floor em and sit back...get there eventually....My 36hp 1957 splitty bus was a lot faster....but it blew up every few years... Oh well...sounds like a candidate for a gas inline transplant there...grin. Don Hanson |
