There's something else to look for, too. If your brake shoes are overly worn, you can hear a click at low revolutions especially. Sometimes changing lanes quickly or turning sharply will make it disappear for a moment.

This would be a good time to check the tightness of your lug bolts as well.

Probably a CV joint problem, but the other two things I mention have happened to me.
