re: remote shutoff. I bought a new one 9 years ago with a remote--so I could turn it off in bed. Well, it draws .8 amps when playing a CD, and .35 amps when it is "off" but only .02 amps when the face is removed. That .35 amps equals 8.4 amps per day, so my camper battery would go down when parked for 10 days or so. Some one suggested (correctly, I think) that the .35 amps is the remote sensor waiting patiently for the remote to give it a new command, such as "on".... If the remote can power up the unit, I don't see how that draw can be avoided. Mine is a Panasonic. I take the face off when I'm not camping or driving. Richard |
