So far you are accomplishing the "dirty" part of quick and dirty! Not so sure about the quick part yet. The crack between the valves is common, but not necessarily a problem. Others can comment on that though. Your exhaust studs look like mine! Are you going to try to extract that one or just junk the head along with the exhaust? Stuart

Anyway, after much scraping and brushing I made the engine case about 10 lbs lighter :) You know, the WBX is in the top 10 engines for one characteristic - the ability to trap and hold dirt and oil. All those nooks and crannies.
