Look up a program called Handbrake. Usually works, but some newer DVD's won't allow it.

On an (un)related Friday note, how do you get movies from DVD onto an iPad?  I can only figure it out if I buy it through iTunes (greedy buggers).
Then I run the sound wirelessly through the Bluetooth speakers....
