AT least a bad transmission is a 'finite' issue .. and not something like wateboxer elusive weird poor running, for example.

Perhaps you are supposed to live in Bishop. Interesting beautiful area. ask around about Willy's hot spring , it may be called, well north of town, not passed Mammouth airport though. 3rd cattle guard I think.

or Hot Creek ..though I don't know for sure you can still get in that randomly hot small river.

it's a special opportunity I think. lookat this way.. there are millions of places it would be far worse to be broken down in.

what trans do you have , a DK ? that's most likely ..one from an air-cooled vanagon. I need one myself , lol ! really though ..I would not mind being in Bishop Ca with my woman-partner atall. on a scale of 1 to 10 about good places to be broken down in... Bishop Ca ratesa solid 9.

Tranny is definitely a rattling bucket of bolts. Headed to sierra vs repair. Anyone have any tips? Tranny replacement? > > Tim > 2.0 aba digifant 1.8 head > Converted from 82 diesel > >
