So far as quality goes, you won't find better than a Dennis Haynes receiver hitch. I've had one for several years now and it has been perfect. I will be ordering another soon for my other '88 GL, and the one thing I would do different is have it delivered with no paint. I would then have it thoroughly cleaned and powder coated locally. I can't address the Syncro vs 2WD mounting.
