I installed the BB Side Step on my Westy in 1997 without any of the problems (angle grinding) encountered on your Bay, but the jackpoints on the Vanagon are a bit bigger. Used it for a number years and removed it to do some undercarriage work. While off, someone stole that damn thing :( Maybe someday I will get another.
