I have to say that a lot of the chargers and widgets you get are often crap. It is just the way of those things. I have seen about 6 of them, most with well-known brand names, fail in a short time without them being abused. I live 'off the grid' out of my van about 3 months each year and depend on those widgets to charge phones, GPS, bike computers, etc. I have a whole box of non-functional ones now and I always travel with a few spares because they do just quit.
