I did it once. In the summer of1974 in my 1970 Baywindow. Was on a round the USA 15,000 mile roadtrip. Excellent sunrise, tops of islands below sticking out through fog bank. Special memories. I slept there in parking lot in van---wonder if you can still do that?

"From the look of that bridge, I expect it's a white knuckle drive in a
Westy."
I haven't made that bridge crossing in a Westy but have several times in a
tin top Vanagon (both an automatic and manual) and it really isn't too bad
at all - and almost everytime I've crossed has been in late December or
early January :)
Bar Harbor is a bit touristy - but if this is your first time to the area I
think you will enjoy it. I know I have all three times I have been there.
Acadia National park is beautiful too - you may want to check ahead and see
if it is open yet. I heard reports on NPR that they delayed the openeing of
the park last year due to funding and may do the same this year as well -
although I do not recallo the details.
If you do enter Acadia then you can drive to the top of Caddilac Mt. If you
are lucky to catch a sunrise there you will be the first in the U.S. to see
the sun that day :) (well you and any others who are there of course).
Thanks,
Jeff
