Well, Bar Harbor is ok as touristy places go.  Better than most.  Lots of good lobster shacks.  But I haven't been there since the mid-nineties.  Acadia National Park is more than well worth the time.  For me, the excellent bird diversity and the climatic and vegetative zonation over a narrow altitudinal gradient were great.  Of course, the swimming was a bit chilly.  I saw lots of parents who insisted that their children go in, but who stayed out of the water themselves.  mcneely
