Since my Westy is garaged, I have not recently experienced that issue, but vaguely remember it being the case. I have the Dometic manual and it does not address this issue. Can someone confirm if this is normal?

It used to happen with mine when I parked it outside with sun on the driver's side. The fan is thermostatically switched, so one should expect that if it heats up whether the refrigerator is on or not, it would run. So, I go to lengths not to have the sun on the driver's side if I am running the refrigerator, in order to keep the refrigerator from having such a load. I try to keep the van shaded whenever possible, but if not possible, at least to turn it so the sun does not hit it broadside.
